Hot Kitchen Collective Presents: CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Hot Kitchen Collective Presents: CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Do you remember your last great Christmas - the tidings and good cheer? Do you remember when the yule tide brought you genuine joy? Do you remember it slipping through your fingers as each year went by?

Hot Kitchen Collective presents CHRISTMAS PAGEANT, a brand new devised performance celebrating the overindulgence and mass-produced joy of the biggest holiday over the year, and the sadness that lies underneath. CHRISTMAS PAGEANT will bring you a slice of home - like a delayed layover at the airport, a cold casserole, or a gifted sweater that's a little too snug and a little too itchy.

We dedicate this show to those who feel alone on Christmas in a room full of family members, to those who exhaust themselves keeping the spirit of the season alive every year (and somehow never attain it), and to those who long for someone or something in holidays past. We welcome you to join us in this cathartic celebration.

December 8th -10th & 15th17th (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays) at 4511 N Hermitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60640 in Ravenswood.

Doors @ 7:30pm, Shows @ 8pm

ACCESSIBILITY: Venue will have a wheelchair accessible entrance and seating.

grelley.

grelley., the rooty tooty fresh and fruity sequel to last year’s smash hit In My Home In My Prime, could not come a moment too soon. The show inhabits the world of Alex Grelle’s VHS collection in what has been dubbed “a virtual homage for the obsessive age”. This show is a triple-threat extravaganza, an expansion and reformulation of the larger-than-life experience of The Grelley Duvall Show. Grelle and an outstanding cast act their way through a stream of film parodies connected through song and dance. This will be the most ambitious project from the young star to date.
Bringing together the worlds of music and dance through film, Grelle’s past live performances have been cult-hits, selling out runs at Steppenwolf, Chopin, and The Hideout for years. These shows are always massive collaborative efforts, and grelley. is no different. It features the talents of Ike Holter, Nnämdi, Hot Kitchen Collective, Alyssa Gregory, Erin Kilmurray, Glamhag, Tia Monet Greer and so many more.

Sand & Friends at Steppenwolf

Audrey will be joining Sand on January 20th in their recurring show Sand & Friends with Steppenwolf's LookOut Series.
ABOUT THIS SHOW: Sand is an improv ensemble based in Chicago. The members of Sand are Thomas Kelly, Scott Nelson and Mike Brunlieb. They are accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tim Joyce, a frequent collaborator and good buddy. In performance, Sand improvises a series of scenes that explore the lives of three characters. Gentle, sweet little misfits and power-mad demonic rage-machines and kinda vacant functionaries and righteous Christian punk guitarists are some of Sand's favorite people. New City magazine describes Sand's work as having a simultaneous darkness and empathy that evokes David Lynch, and we like that just fine.

Leap Dog

Created and performed by Katelyn Douglass & Audrey Polinski
Can a Cheeto dismantle sadness? Katelyn and Audrey say yes, it can.
Not too long ago, Katelyn was eating a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and came across one that looked very similar to a dog. But not any kind of dog... One that flew through the air... a LEAP DOG. She submitted it to a contest hosted by Frito-Lay, and LEAP DOG lost. But in a time of despair, a time of defeat, Katelyn and Audrey saw LEAP DOG as more than just a cheesy treat... They saw hope.
For TWO NIGHTS only, witness Audrey and Katelyn declare their devotion to LEAP DOG, and share parts of themselves with it and you. It will be bright, it will be cheesy, and it will be orange.
